FLORENCE, ALA. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team began the final day of play at the North Alabama Tournament on Saturdaywith a 3-1 loss to Northwood, but bounced back to end the day with a 3-2 victory over Christian Brothers.
The Tritons, now 4-4 on the season, will host Maryville on Tuesday night in their home and Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
Northwood 3, UMSL 1
The Timberwolves held the Tritons to .099 hitting en route to the 25-15, 19-25, 25-23, 25-18 win. Northwood (4-3) racked up 56 kills in the win, attacking at a .241 mark and had three players in double digit kills, led by Juliia Pakhomenko's match-high 20.
Senior
Chelsea Burkle recorded a team-best 12 kills for UMSL, while sophomore
Lindsay Meyer dished out 29 assists and tallied 10 digs.
UMSL outblocked the Timberwolves, 7-4, with sophomore
Jessica Ploss finishing with four blocks.
UMSL 3, Christian Brothers 2
After winning the first two sets, the Tritons was forced to fend off a rally by the Bucs to secure a 25-19, 25-15, 15-25, 21-25, 15-13 win.
Burkle had four of her match-high 19 kills in the decisive set, including one for the match victory. Five unanswered points by UMSL gave the Tritons an 11-6 lead in that frame, but a 7-3 run by Christian Brothers cut the gap to 14-13.

Anna McNulty recorded 25 and 23 assists, respectively, guiding the offense to a .268 hitting percentage. Freshman
Jory Siebenmorgen added 12 kills, while sophomore
Hannah Miller tallied seven kills with no errors in 11 attempts.

Shelby Bishop recorded a career-best 17 digs, while junior
Haley Brightwell added 12 digs to go with eight kills.
