ROMEOVILLE, ILL. – Lewis scored three second half goals en route to posting a 4-1 victory over the visiting University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Lewis (6-1-1, 4-1-1 GLVC) scored just 1:21 into the contest for the eventual game-winner and finished the opening 45 minutes of play outshooting the Tritons, 14-4, including 6-2 in shots on goal.
The Flyers then tacked on three additional goals in the second half before Triton sophomore
Jessica Mincher got UMSL on the board in the 85
th minute with her third goal of the year. Mincher scored in front of the goal off sophomore
Kali Thomas' cross.
UMSL slips to 4-4 with the loss, including 2-4 in the GLVC.
Lewis finished the contest with a 21-9 shots advantage, including 11-5 in shots on goal.
Senior
Brittany Harbaugh took three shots for the Tritons, placing two on goal. Senior
Christine Lips played all 90 minutes in goal, allowing the four goals, while registering seven saves, five of which came in the first half.
UMSL returns home on Friday to host Drury at 5 p.m.
