ST. CHARLES, MO. – A pair of first half goals was all the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team needed to post a 2-0 victory over Emporia State on Friday night in the season opener for both teams, at the Embassy Suites Invitational, hosted by Lindenwood.
Sophomore Hunter
Wagoner put the Tritons on the board in the 29th minute, scoring off a pass from sophomore
Kali Thomas, while sophomore
Hannah Kaloupek added an insurance goal 10 minutes later, with an assist from sophomore
Sidney Allen.
Kaloupek fired a team-best four shots as UMSL outshot Emporia State, 13-7.
Senior
Kaitlyn Smugala played all 90 minutes in goal, registering two saves.
UMSL returns to action on Sunday against Lindenwood at 1:30 p.m.
