LAS VEGAS, NEV. – The No. 17 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team recorded a ninth place finish at the Las Vegas Desert Classic, hosted by the Tritons, on Sunday and Monday.
UMSL was in fourth place after a first round score of 298, but shot a season-high 305 in the second round to finish with a team score of 603. No. 6 ranked West Florida (290-295) and Redlands (297-288) tied for first place in the 18-team field, each shooting a 585.
Senior Warren Crow shot a 150 (73-77) to pace the squad, tying for 20
th place individually. Sophomores
Colby Yates (74-77) and
Anthony Cope (77-74) each finished with a 151, tying for 26
th place. Senior
Joe Atkisson tied for 36
th place with a 152 (75-77), while freshman
Julien de Poyen rounded out the scoring with a 155 (76-79), tying for 50
th place.
Senior
Justin Hyun (75-78 – 153) and freshman
Matt Barry (76-79 – 155) competed as individuals, tying for 43
rd and 50
th place, respectively.
Medalist honors went to Redlands Jeremy Gomberg (69-73 – 142).
