Women’s Soccer Hands Southern Indiana 3-0 Loss in First GLVC Road Test

EVANSVILLE, IND. – Junior Jen Eaton came off the bench of score a goal and record an assist, helping the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team to a 3-0 win at Southern Indiana on Friday night in the Tritons' first Great Lakes Valley Conference road game of the season.
 
The Tritons improve to 4-1 overall, including 2-1 in the GLVC, while Southern Indiana, playing in its home opener,  slips to 1-4 and 0-3 in the league. UMSL also snapped a two-game losing streak to the Screaming Eagles with the win.
 
The home team came out firing with four shots and five corner kick attempts in the first 19 minutes, but from there it was all UMSL.
 
Junior Laura Hurlbut was the first to successfully find the back of the net in the 22nd minute for her third goal of the season with senior Mary Kopsky and junior Jaylon Griffith being credited on the assists.
 
Eaton then gave UMSL a 2-0 lead before halftime with her tally in the 38th minute. Junior Liseli McCarthy earned the assist.
 
Junior Mary Hoffmann scored her first collegiate goal in the 57th minute to account for the final score with assists to Eaton and junior Cassie McFadden.
 
UMSL recorded 14 shots, including five on goal, while Southern Indiana finished with seven shots, landing four on goal. Junior Megan Ohm tallied four saves, while playing all 90 minutes and picking up her third shutout of the year.
 
The Tritons travel to Illinois Springfield on Sunday at 12 p.m.
