Box Score Photo GalleryST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team put together its second straight three-goal game, defeating crosstown foe Lindenwood, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon.
The Tritons improve to 2-0 on the young season, while Lindenwood slips to 0-1-1.
UMSL owned a 14-10 shots advantage, including a 9-5 edge in shots on goal. Juniors
Laura Hurlbut and
Sidney Allen each recorded a goal and an assist in the win.
Hurlbut put the Tritons on the board in the 32
nd minute with a booming kick from midfield about 30 yards out that sailed over Lions keeper Melissa Weiss. Freshman
Emily Mosier was credited with the assist.
Hurlbut then assisted Allen, who delivered the ball into the far left side of the net from the right wing of the box in the 57
th minute to make it 2-0.
Lindenwood answered back seven minutes later, but an insurance goal by junior
Jessica Mincher in the 85
th minute helped preserve the win. Allen and freshman
Baylee Williams both assisted on the play.
Allen took three shots, landing all three on target, while junior
Megan Ohm made four saves in goal, playing all 90 minutes.
UMSL will continue its four-game homestand on Friday, entertaining Bellarmine in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. Kick-off is set for 5 p.m.
