SETTING THE SCENEUMSL wraps up a stretch of three games in five days Monday night when it travels across town to Maryville. The Tritons will also be playing their fourth game on the road in a five-game span. UMSL slipped to 12-4 overall, including 4-2 in the GLVC with an 81-64 loss at Quincy on Saturday, dropping the Tritons out of first place in the GLVC West Division standings. Drury took over the top spot, while UMSL and Maryville are a half game behind in second place. Drury will visit Maryville on Thursday and the Tritons on Saturday.
LAST TIME OUTUMSL committed a season-high 16 turnovers in the loss at Quincy, which resulted in a 19-11 scoring advantage in points off turnovers for the Hawks. UMSL entered the game ranking fourth in NCAA DII with just 9.8 turnovers per game. Quincy also owned a 44-32 rebounding edge, including a 16-11 advantage on the offensive end to outscore UMSL, 20-13, in second chance points. Quincy shot 57.1 percent in the opening 20 minutes, including 53.8 percent (7-of-13 from three-point range) en route to a 51-32 halftime lead. The Tritons pulled within 61-52 midway through the second half, but back-to-back Quincy three-pointers ignited an 18-4 run and the Hawks never looked back.

DOUBLE-DOUBLEAareon Smith was held to just seven points and eight rebounds at Quincy, snapping a streak of five straight double-doubles. He owns 10 on the season, which leads the GLVC and ranks fourth in NCAA DII.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTSMaryville fell to 9-6 overall, including 4-2 in the GLVC on Saturday with a 74-53 loss at Truman State. The Saints are led by Trae Pemberton's 16.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game, while Armon Provo follows with 15.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. The duo also account for 72 of Maryville's 126 three-pointers. In league-only games, the Saints are shooting 49.4 percent from the field, including 40.4 percent from beyond the arc, which is second to the Tritons.
SERIES HISTORYUMSL is 15-2 all-time against Maryville and won both meetings last season, including a 74-69 decision at home in the GLVC opener and a 68-66 win at Maryville in the league finale.
