GLVC Women's Soccer Tournament Released; Tritons Host Drury on Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The Great Lakes Valley Conference released Wednesday night the bracket for the 2015 GLVC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament. Bellarmine earned the No. 1 seed in the eight-team tournament and will serve as one of four hosts in the tournament's opening-round contests, which take place this Sunday, Nov. 1. No. 2 Truman State , No. 3 Quincy and No. 4 Missouri-St. Louis will also host quarterfinal action on Sunday.

UMSL (10-3-4, 8-3-4 GLVC) returns to the postseason after a three-year absence, having last appeared in 2011. Picked ninth in the GLVC Preseason Coaches Poll, the Tritons will host No. 5 seed Drury (9-4-4, 8-4-3 GLVC) at 1 p.m. at the Don Dallas Soccer Field. The game will be a rematch of the October 2 regular season contest in which UMSL posted a 4-0 victory. The Panthers are making their fourth consecutive GLVC Championship Tournament appearance and eight overall, with the first coming in 2007 when they won the title as the third seed.

Top-seeded Bellarmine finished the regular season with a 12-1-2 conference record, its first-ever regular season championship, and a league winning percentage of .867. The 12 wins tied a program record and secured the best winning percentage in school history. At 15-1-2 overall, the 18th-ranked Knights will make their 14th appearance in the GLVC Championship Tournament when they host No. 8 seed McKendree (8-7-3, 7-6-2 GLVC) on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET in Louisville, Ky. Bellarmine hosted the Bearcats earlier this season and narrowly won 1-0. McKendree is making its second appearance, earning its first shot in 2013.

No. 2 Truman State (12-2-4, 11-1-3) makes its third consecutive postseason trip and as many overall, and will play host to No. 7 Rockhurst (7-5-6, 7-5-3) in Kirksville, Mo., on Sunday for a quarterfinal matchup at 12 p.m. The Bulldogs earned a 2-1 victory over the Hawks on Oct. 2. Rockhurst is a perfect 11-for-11 in making the conference tournament since becoming eligible in 2005 but has yet to win the trophy.

Third-seeded Quincy (12-3-3, 9-3-3) welcomes Lewis (10-6-2, 8-5-2). The Flyers earned the No. 6 seed and advance to the postseason event for the sixth time and second year in a row, having won the tournament crown in 1995 during their first appearance. The Hawks advance for their 10th-straight trip and 17th overall, having won the crown back-to-back in 2012-13. Earlier this year on Sept. 20, Quincy topped Lewis 4-2.

Each of the four quarterfinal winners will advance to the GLVC Championship Tournament, which will be hosted by the highest-seeded semifinalist on Friday, Nov. 6. Two semifinal contests will be played Friday at times to be determined, while the 2015 GLVC Championship Tournament final will take place Sunday, Nov. 8.
