Final ResultsLAS VEGAS, NEV. – The No. 14 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team tied for second place at its own Las Vegas Desert Classic, held Sunday and Monday.
The Tritons posted a three-round score of 881 (295-292-294), finishing in a tie with Oklahoma Christian (291-289-301). Both teams were 17 strokes back of team champion No. 3 ranked West Florida (298-280-288 – 866) in the 15-team field.
Individually, sophomore
Markus Lindberg claimed runner-up honors, turning in 54-hole school record 209 (68-70-71). West Florida's Bryce Geraghty finished one stroke better to earn medalist honors with a 208 (73-68-67).
Junior
Julien de Poyen also secured a top 10 finish, tying for ninth place with a 219 (78-70-71). Also for the Tritons, senior
Anthony Cope (73-76-75 – 224) tied for 19
th place, while junior
Jose Acevedo (77-76-79 – 232; 37
th) and senior
Colby Yates (77-79-77 – 233; T38th) rounded out the scoring.
UMSL's second squad finished 10
th with a 926 (313-300-313) and was led by junior
Matt Barry (73-73-75 – 221), who tied for 14
th place. Other scores included sophomore
Stephan Sorg (76-77-75 – 228; T30th), sophomore
Gordon Hundley (81-79-76 – 236; T44th) and sophomore
Kyle Szyhowski (83-71-87 – 241; 59
th).
UMSL is idle until March 28-29 when it competes at the North Alabama Classic.
