Sara Kern broke up Ally Foster's no hitter in the top of the seventh with back-to-back home runs to help the No. 6 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team to a 2-1 victory over the Knights in the first of two games on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. UMSL then completed the sweep with a 2-0 win in the capper.
Senior
Hannah Perryman picked up wins 39 and 40 on the season, combining for 24 strikeouts on the day, moving her season total to 490, which ranks fourth on the NCAA Division II single season charts. Her 40 strikeouts equal the 10
th most in an NCAA DII single season, while her 22 shutouts this year are the seventh most.
UMSL improves to 46-5 overall, including 24-4 in the GLVC. The 46 wins are the third most in program history. Bellarmine slips to 33-20 overall, including 17-10 in the league.
The Tritons will close out the regular season tomorrow with a doubleheader at Southern Indiana.
GAME 1: UMSL 2, Bellarmine
In the match-up between NFCA DII Player of the Year Top 25 finalists Perryman and Foster, it was Perryman who came out on top despite a solid effort from Foster.
Foster gave herself an early cushion with a lead-off home run and retired 19 of 20 UMSL batters before allowing the two long balls. She finished the complete game effort with 14 strikeouts and issued just one walk to the Tritons.
Perryman, meanwhile, struck out 15 and allowed three hits and five walks – including three intentionals to Foster following her home run.
Walker reached base twice, drawing Foster's lone walk, before stealing second.
GAME 2: UMSL 2, Bellarmine
The Tritons took advantage of three Knights errors to plate two unearned runs. Freshman

Jennah Perryman, while junior
Alex Stupek's RBI groundout in the third sent sophomore
Rachel Matthies home. Matthies led off with a double and advanced to third on an error.
Perryman scattered four hits in the shutout and struck out nine, while walking four.
Bellarmine left eight runners on base, including bases loaded in the fourth and sixth innings.
