• UMSL is 1-1, having defeated Davenport in overtime last Friday, 75-67, before falling to Grand Valley State, 61-58, the next night.

Shawnta Johnson's 13.5 points per game. Johnson, who has scored in double figures in both games this season, averaged 6.7 points per game last season and only reached double figures six times. Johnson also averages 7.0 rebounds per game and has played all 40 minutes.

Sammie Sproul adds 13.0 points per game, having scored a career-high 16 in the loss to Grand Valley State. She has knocked down 7-of-11 three-pointers, including 4-of-5 against Grand Valley State.
• Newcomers in junior
Arielle Jackson (12.0 ppg) and freshman
Alex LaPorta (10.0) are also in double figures. Jackon has already made 19 trips to the free throw line, making 13. LaPorta adds 8.0 rebounds per game, having recorded 17 points and 13 rebounds in the season-opening win.

UMSL and Kentucky State have never met in women's basketball.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Kentucky State is 0-2 and is coming off a 64-52 loss to Alabama-Huntsville last Saturday. Junior center Brooke Wallace averages 9.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. The Thorobreds are shooting 37.5 percent from the field and average 60.5 points per game.
