Three Tritons Earn 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team Honors

ST. LOUIS, MO. – University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore Jennifer Hauer of the women's tennis team, junior Alexa Capesius of the women's golf team and junior Markus Lindberg of the men's golf team have all been selected to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District At Large Team.
 
Hauer, a finance major with a 3.98 GPA, earned All-GLVC honors this spring and is ranked 16th in singles in the ITA Midwest. She finished with a 14-9 singles record at No. 1 and a 15-5 mark in doubles, while helping the Tritons to a share of their first regular season GLVC title and the program's second-ever NCAA Tournament.
 
Capesius, a business administration/marketing major with a 3.96 GAPA, owns a career-best scoring average of 77.74 and has recorded six top-10 finishes. She earned medalist honors at the Buccaneer Spring Classic and finished second at the GLVC Championships. Capesius helped UMSL to a third place finish at the NCAA East Super Regional, thus earning a spot in the program's first-ever DII National Championships later this week.
 
Lindberg, an international business major with a 3.61 GPA, was named the GLVC Men's Golfer of the Year, while earning All-GLVC honors for the second straight year. Ranked 42nd in the national Golfstat rankings, Lindberg set a program single season scoring average record of 72.64. He won three individual titles and also finished with four top-five, six top-10 and 10 top-16 performances. In addition, he tied a ciollegiate golf record for lowest round, shooting a 60 in his win at the Arch Cup.

To be eligible for nomination to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, and must be a starter or an important reserve.
 
All three honorees now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
