ST. LOUIS, MO. – Visiting Lewis scored two unanswered goals, including the game-winner in the 54
th minute to edge the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team, 2-1, on Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Tritons owned a 1-0 lead early in the game thanks to a goal from senior
Nick Werner.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Werner's first goal of the season gave UMSL the early 1-0 advantage in the 12
th minute as he fired from 25 yards out off a pass from fellow senior
Pim Boonstra.
- The Flyers threatened a couple minutes later with three shots and a corner kick in a 34-second span, but two went wide, while senior
Jake Schmidt stopped the other one.
- Lewis notched the equalizer in the 31
st minute.
- The guests took advantage of a free kick following a foul outside the 18 in the 54th minute to take their first lead at 2-1, scoring on the set piece.
- Werner nearly made it 2-2 in the 71
st minute, turning on the ball and firing from distance again, but this attempt went high.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- UMSL finished with eight shots, including four on goal, while Lewis took 15 shots, placing five on target.
