Troy Halterman has announced the signing
Ian McCrary to a national letter of intent to join the Tritons men's program beginning with the 2021-22 academic year.
McCrary preps at Blue Valley Northwest where he will play his senior season this spring. His junior year was cancelled due to COVID-19, but as a sophomore he earned honorable mention all-state honors, finished sixth at the East Kansas League Championships and set a school record for the lowest round with a 66. McCrary also helped his team to conference and regional championships.
McCrary, a top-five ranked player in Kansas for the class of 2021, also qualified for the 2020 Optimist Tournament of Champions, was also a qualifier in the Kansas-Nebraska Cup, was an invitee to the Mid-America Cup and earned two junior wins in 2020 including at the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado event. Additionally, he had five wins in 2018 junior tour events and six in 2019.
"We are excited to have Ian join our program," said Halterman. "He had a really strong junior resume and has played in a lot of national events. His high level of experience should help him battle for playing time as a freshman."
