Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- No matter the sport, once the calendar rolls around to conference season, things become amplified a bit more.
Each possession, each minute that ticks off the clock becomes a bit more scrutinized.
Friday's GLVC tilt between the host, the UMSL Tritons, and the visiting Truman State Bulldogs simply corroborate the aforementioned sentiment.
With the officials holding up card after card, those in attendance and the players on the field knew it would be one of those nights, as the Tritons outlasted the opposition, 1-0, marking back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
With the win, the Tritons move to .500 on the young season (3-3, 2-2 GLVC), while the Bulldogs drop to 0-6.
Approximately seven minutes into the contest, UMSL midfielder
Bradley Fritsche found the net -- giving his Tritons just enough to secure the win.
Chippiness was paramount, as the Bulldogs were called for three yellow cards and committed 15 fouls to the Tritons' two yellows and nine fouls.
The Tritons now are 1-1 on their home turf and are back in action Sunday at 2:30 p.m. when they host Quincy.
