ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team had three players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on Tuesday afternoon. Seniors
Candice Parziani,
Paige Schwartz and
Maddie Schweiss were all named to the CSC Academic All-District team and advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America teams will be announced in early December.
To be eligible for nomination to the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, must be a starter or an important reserve and have appeared in at least 50 percent of their team's contests. Everyone named to the CSC Academic All-District advances to the Academic All-America ballot.
Parziani, a third-team All-GLVC selection, was second on the team in scoring with 10 points tallying three goals and four assists and has scored a pair of game-winning goals this season. She scored the game-winning goal against Southwest Baptist on Oct. 2 and had the game-winner in the GLVC Quarterfinal win at Rockhurst this past Sunday. In GLVC play this season, Parziani was tied for first in assists and assists per game with 0.36. She is a psychology major and has a cumulative GPA of 3.77.
Schwartz appeared in 11 games with 10 starts this season posting a record of 3-3-4 with 29 saves and a shutout. Her shutout came in a 2-0 win over Quincy on Sept. 16. Schwartz made a season-high seven saves in the 2-1 win at Rockhurst in the first round of the GLVC Tournament. She is liberal studies major and has cumulative GPA of 3.67.
Schweiss appeared in all 18 games with 13 starts this season for the Tritons. She was part of a backline that recorded three shutouts this season which included a 1-0 win over a Maryville team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Schweiss is a nursing major and has a cumulative GPA of 3.70.
The Tritons finished the 2022 season with a record of 6-7-5 including 3-4-5 in the GLVC and advanced to the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament for the second straight season.
