ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team begins a three-game homestand on Thursday starting with No. 7 Drury at 5:30 p.m. at the Mark Twain Building. The homestand continues on Saturday against Missouri S&T at 1 p.m.
The Tritons (2-3, 1-0 GLVC) picked up their second straight win holding off a late rally to defeat Southwest Baptist 51-46 on Monday evening in Bolivar.
Jalysa Stokes scored a career-high 21 points in the contest while Kiara Stokes pulled down a season-high 16 rebounds in the contest.
UMSL is averaging 53.8 points per game this season while allowing 60.4. It's shooting 38 percent (109-of-284) from the field, has made 22 of 75 three-point attempts (29 percent) and is shooting 83 percent at the foul line. It is also outrebounding its opponents by 5.4 rebounds per contest.
Stokes leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per contest while
Amaya Blake is averaging 9.4 points per outing and
Morgan Ramthun is at 8.4 ppg. Stewart leads the team in rebounding at 12.5 per game while
Shae Dillavou and Ramthun are averaging 7.2 and 6.8 per contest respectively. Dillavou has a team best 10 assists while Blake has a team-high eight steals.
About Drury – The Panthers enter Thursday's contest with a record of 5-1, 1-0 in the GLVC after defeating Missouri S&T 65-36 in its GLVC opener on Monday evening in Springfield. Drury is ranked seventh in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll and its only loss this season was a 68-67 overtime defeat against No. 3 Ashland last Wednesday in Springfield.
The Panthers are averaging 78.3 points per game this season while allowing just 57.7 per contest. They're shooting 46 percent (180-for-392) from the floor including 37.5 percent from three but are only shooting 66 percent at the foul line. Drury is outrebounding its opponents by nearly four rebounds per game.
The Panthers are led in scoring by Kaylee DaMitz-Holt at 17.3 points per contest. She is joined in double figures in scoring by Alana Findley and Terrion Moore with 14.8 and 10.5 points per game respectively. Moore leads Drury in rebounding with 5.8 per contest and also leads the team in assists with 30 and steals with 18.
About Missouri S&T – The Miners enter Saturday's contest at 3-5 and are 1-1 in GLVC play. S&T opened conference play last Saturday with a 76-54 win at Southwest Baptist before falling to Drury on Monday evening.
The Miners are averaging 64.5 points per game but have allowed 65.5 points per outing. They're shooting 38 percent (188-of-502) from the floor, have connected on 24.5 percent of their three-point attempts and are shooting 71.8 percent at the foul line.
Alex Kerr and Laura Rodriquez lead S&T in scoring with 13.0 and 12.1 points per game respectively. Kerr also leads S&T in rebounding with 8.1 per game and leads the GLVC in blocked shots with 15. Michaela Davis leads the team with 20 assists while Rodriguez has a team-high 12 steals.
