Women's Basketball Ranked Fifth in Midwest Regional Rankings

ST. LOUIS, MO. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team ranks fifth in the latest NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings that were released Wednesday, Feb. 23. UMSL slid one spot after a loss to Lewis University last Monday and a win over Lindenwood University on Saturday.

Grand Valley State University sits atop the Midwest Region with a record of 20-1 in-region. Ashland University is second in the region while Walsh University, who won at Ashand, 83-76, in overtime last Thursday, claims the fourth spot.

Drury University also lost to Lewis last week on the road, but stayed just above UMSL at third in the region with an in-region record of 23-4.

The Tritons ranked fifth with a record of 19-3. UMSL will play the sixth-ranked team, the University of Southern Indiana, Thursday, Feb. 24 in a matchup that will likely decide the team that receives a bye in the first round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament.

Wayne State University slotted in at seventh followed by Kentucky Wesleyan at eighth. Wisconsin-Parkside and Ferris State are ninth and tenth respectively.

In the final rankings, the top eight teams advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Midwest Regional Tournament.
