INDIANAPOLIS – The Great Lakes Valley Conference has unveiled its 2023 Preseason Baseball Poll with the University of Missouri-St. Louis being tabbed 10th.
This year's preseason poll ranks teams 1-14, as opposed to divisions in years past.
Illinois Springfield, the defending GLVC Tournament Champion, was tabbed as the preseason favorite, garnering 142 total points and 10 of the 13 first-place votes, followed by Quincy in second with 130 points and a pair of first-place votes. Drury picked up the final first-place marker and 114 points to sit in third in the poll. Maryville earned 112 points and is fourth followed by Lewis in fifth with 100 points.
Indianapolis (93) has been picked to finish sixth, while Missouri S&T (71), William Jewell (63), McKendree (55) and UMSL (44) are seventh-10th respectively. Rockhurst (37), Truman State (35) and Southwest Baptist (18) round out the poll.

Brandon Olion, a Second Team All-GLVC selection last season after posting a .412 batting average, tallying 68 hits, including 19 doubles, one triple, one home run. Olion also lead the team with 31 runs scored and was 10-for-16 in stolen bases.
UMSL will open its 2023 season February 10-12 in Huntsville, Ala., where the Tritons will take on Alabama-Huntsville in a four-game series. The Tritons open their home schedule February 24-26 in a four-game series against Minnesota Crookston. The GLVC slate begins on the road March 10-12 at Rockhurst.
The conference will host the 2023 GLVC Championship Tournament on May 11-14 at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois.
