ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team is making its third straight appearance and 18th overall in the Great Lakes Valley Tournament as it takes on Lewis in a quarterfinal contest this Sunday at noon at Lewis Stadium in Romeoville, Ill.
All seven GLVC Tournament games will be streamed live behind a paywall on the GLVC Sports Network at GLVCSN.com, on Android and iOS mobile apps, as well as OTT apps via AppleTV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Android TV.
Sunday's game is a rematch of the meeting on October 1 that ended in a 1-1 tie between UMSL and the Flyers. Junior defender
Emily Bloomfield gave the Tritons the early lead scoring on a penalty kick in the 14th minute but Elisa Aguilar scored the equalizer off a free kick in the 63rd minute.
UMSL, who bring records of 8-5-3 and 7-4-1 in the GLVC into Sunday's contest, qualified for the tournament as the five seed following its 3-0 win over Southwest Baptist in its regular season finale this past Sunday.
The Tritons got two goals from junior midfielder
Kayley Judy and a third from junior forward
Jada Holloman in the win over Southwest Baptist and has scored 31 times in their 16 games this season. Judy and Holloman lead the way with seven goals apiece while junior forward
Kendal White has scored four times. Judy and Holloman are tied for the team lead with 16 points.
In goal, sophomore
Mary Kate Neal has started eight games this season and owns a 0.63 goals against average with 22 saves in 720 minutes of action. She has posted four shutouts in her last five starts.
In UMSL's last two appearances in the GLVC Tournament, the Tritons won their opening round game on the road on both occasions. They defeated Rockhurst 2-1 last season and McKendree in penalty kicks two years ago.
About Lewis – The Flyers enter Sunday's game with a record of 8-5-5 and 7-2-4 in the GLVC but are just 3-4-2 at home this season. They secured the four seed despite going 0-1-1 last weekend. They played to a scoreless draw against Illinois Springfield last Friday and then dropped its regular season finale to Quincy 1-0 on Sunday.
Breanna Culver leads Lewis in scoring with four goals and five assists for a total of 13 points. Aguilar and Melisa Hadzic are tied for second with 12 points apiece. Hadzic has scored a team leading six goals this season.
In goal, Bekah Nielsen has started 16 games this season and owns a 0.77 goals against average with 67 saves in 1395 minutes of action. She has posted seven shutouts this season.
