ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team begins its final road trip of the regular season this Thursday as they head down to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T at 5:30 p.m. at Gibson Arena. The road trip continues Saturday as the Tritons head to Springfield to take on second ranked Drury at 1 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Events Center.
Last Time Out – UMSL snapped a two-game losing streak with a 65-50 win over Rockhurst last Saturday afternoon at the Mark Twain Building.
Jalysa Stokes led the Tritons in scoring with 17 points while
Kiara Stewart finished with a double-double scoring 15 points and matching her season-high with 16 rebounds.
Olivia Mezan added a career-high 14 points as well.
Path to the Postseason – UMSL enters play this week with a record of 9-12, 7-8 in the GLVC and are tied for sixth with Maryville in the GLVC's Point Rating System with 3.07 points. The Tritons trail fifth seeded Missouri S&T by 0.06 points and have a lead of 0.11 points over McKendree who sits in eighth. Th PRS determines the eight teams that advance to the GLVC Tournament March 2-5 at Lindenwood University's Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo. UMSL is seeking its 12th GLVC Tournament appearance in the last 14 years.
Moving on Up – With her 15-point performance last Saturday, Stewart moved into eight place all-time on the scoring list and now stands at 1,167 for her career. She is also six rebounds shy of becoming the third player in school history with at least 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their career.
About Missouri S&T – The Miners moved above the .500 mark with its 52-48 win over Southwest Baptist last Saturday afternoon at Gibson Arena. Alex Kerr, the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder, leads S&T in scoring and rebounding with averages of 16 points and a GLVC-high 9.9 rebounds per game. Laura Rodriguez is second on the team in scoring with an average of 13.3 per contest and is the top free throw shooter in the GLVC at 89 percent.
About Drury – The Panthers enter Thursday's game against Maryville with a record of 21-1, 14-0 GLVC and are riding a 17-game winning streak. Drury extended its winning streak with a 70-58 win at Missouri S&T last Thursday. Kaylee DaMitz-Holt leads the Panthers in scoring at 16.9 points per outing and is joined in double figures by Alana Findley at 14.2 points per contest while Terrion Moore is contributing 11.9 points per outing. Findley is the team's leading rebounder at 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Up Next – The Tritons conclude their three-game road trip next Thursday as they take on cross-town rival Maryville at 5:15 p.m. at Moloney Arena.
