ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team wraps up its regular season schedule with a pair of home games this weekend against the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds and Lewis Flyers.
The Tritons (12-14, 10-10) hosts the Hounds this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and the Flyers in their regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. Both games will be held at the Mark Twain Building.
UMSL heads into the final weekend tied for eighth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Point Rating System (PRS) that determines the eight teams that advance to next week's GLVC Tournament which will be held at Hyland Arena on the campus of Lindenwood University starting next Thursday.
The Tritons and Greyhounds each have a PRS of 3.20 and are battling with Rockhurst and Upper Iowa for the final three spots in the conference tournament. The Hawks have a PRS of 3.40 while the Peacocks are at 3.33 heading into the final weekend.
Lewis currently holds the top spot and is followed by Drury and McKendree who are tied for second, Maryville and Illinois Springfield.
In its last outing UMSL fell on the road at McKendree 74-67 last Saturday afternoon.
Jalysa Stokes led the way for the Tritons with 24 points while
Mara Rieder added 12 points.
Stokes continues to lead the team and the GLVC in scoring this season at 19 points per game and is a full point ahead of McKendree's Clare Breden in second.
Morgan Ramthun leads the squad and is ranked fifth in the conference in rebounding with her 8.1 boards per contest while Rieder has sixth in the league with her 1.3 blocked shots per game.
About UIndy – The Greyhounds enter Thursday night's contest with a record of 13-13 including 10-10 in the GLVC and have dropped four of its last six contests. In its last game UIndy was defeated by Rockhurst 69-67 on a last second three-point shot by Keegan Sullivan.
The Hounds have four players averaging double figures in scoring this season and are led by Elana Wells with 16.6 per game. Liv Becker is averaging 13.6 per contest while Jada Haines and Jada Patton are contributing 10.6 and 10.3 per outing respectively. Patricia Chikamba leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game. Wells has a distributed a team-high 115 assists and Becker leads the squad with 25 steals.
About Lewis – The Flyers enter Thursday's contest with McKendree with an overall record of 18-8 including 17-3 in the GLVC and have won seven straight contests. Lewis extended its winning streak with wins over Rockhurst (80-55) and William Jewell (83-66) last weekend.
Grace Hilber leads the team in scoring with 16.7 per outing. She is joined in double figures by Jenna Badali at 12.8 per contest while Kathryn Schmidt and Taylor Gugliuzza are contributing 12.7 and 12 .4 per game respectively. Schmidt leads the team in rebounding at 6.4 per outing. Badali leads the team with 109 assists and 41 steals.
