WEEKLY REWIND…
Men's Golf
The Tritons finished as the runner-up in stoke play at the GLVC men's golf championships last Sunday-Tuesday but lost to third seeded Missouri S&T in the match play semifinal.
Cyril Henault won medalist honors and was named to the All-GLVC team finishing with a 54-hole score of 213 and won the event by one stroke over Drury's Hunter Jowers. UMSL earned its 11th straight NCAA Tournament bid and will compete at the Midwest/Central Regional, May 9-11 in Edmond, Okla.
Women's Golf
The Tritons finished as the runner-up at the GLVC women's golf championships falling to UIndy 3.5-1.5 in the championship match of medal/match play on Sunday. UMSL advanced to the championship after defeating Drury 3.5-1.5 in the semifinal round.
Wilma Zanderau finished as the runner-up in the stroke-play portion of the championship with a score of 232.
Men's Tennis
The Tritons fell to No. 20 McKendree 4-2 and No. 7 UIndy 4-2 over the weekend but clinched a spot in this week's GLVC Tennis Championships at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo. The Tritons will be the four seed in the GLVC's East Division and will take on Drury who earned the top seed in the West Division.
Women's Tennis
The Tritons secured the GLVC East Division number two seed in this week's GLVC Tennis Championships defeating McKendree 5-1 last Friday before dropping their regular season finale to No. 30 UIndy 4-0 on Saturday. UMSL will face Rockhurst who earned the No. 3 seed from the GLVC West Division.
Baseball
The Tritons clinched a spot in the GLVC Tournament for the first time since 2014 by taking three of four games in its series against Upper Iowa this past weekend. UMSL rallied from a 6-1 deficit after four innings in Sunday's series finale getting grand slams from
Barrett Rose and
Andrew Buescher to win 10-8.
Trent Anderson picked up two saves in the series pitching 5.1 innings to move into the top 10 in UMSL record book for saves in a season with seven.
Softball
The Tritons secured the number five seed for this week's GLVC Softball tournament winning three of its final four games against Southwest Baptist and Drury over the weekend.
McKenzie Lamos hit .545 for the weekend with a home run and four RBI while
Katie Schaake went 2-0 in the circle with 0.58 ERA and earned her first UMSL career shutout and matched her season-high of eight strikeouts in game two against Southwest Baptist last Thursday.
