CHICAGO – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's swimming teams recorded 13 top 10 finishes and two provisional qualifying times on Saturday at the University of Chicago's Phoenix Fall Classic at the Ratner Athletic Center in Chicago.
The women had six top finishes and were led by
Justice Beard who finished third in the 200 free hitting a provisional qualifying time of 1:51.00 for the national meet next March.
Ella Lantz came in fifth in the 100 back with a time of 56.41 seconds and
Stella Garrison was seventh in the 100 breast at 1:05.33.
Romina Itzkovich and
Audrey Lantz were eighth and 10th in the 100 fly with times of 56.71 and 56.85 seconds respectively.
UMSL's 200 medley relay quartet of E. Lantz, Garrison, Itzkovich and A. Lantz finished fifth in a time of 1:44.66.
On the men's side the Tritons had seven top 10 finishes led by
Landon Hanesworth who was third in the 100 breast at 55.45 seconds.
Aaron Wicklund picked up a provisional qualifying time of 3:55.60 and finished fifth in the 400 individual medley.
Mattia Nardi finished 10th in the 400 IM at 4:00.59.
Lathan Parks and
Kaleb Suitor were sixth and eighth in the 100 fly with times of 49.87 and 49.98 seconds respectively.
Maxwell Wetteland took 10th in the 100 back in a time of 51.51 seconds.
UMSL's 200 medley relay squad of Wetteland, Hanesworth, Suitor and Parks came in sixth at 1:30.08.
The final day of the Phoenix Fall Classic is on Sunday starting at 10 a.m. with preliminary races in the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and the 1650 free. Finals for those events along with the last heat of the 1650 free and the 400 free relay will be held in the evening starting at 5 p.m.
