ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team had five student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators 2025 Academic All-District team which was released on Tuesday.
Representing the Tritons are
Mitch Bonczkowski,
Andrew Buescher,
Zach Haygood,
Barrett Rose and
Braedon Stoakes.
Bonczkowski, an educational studies major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.91. He led the team with nine home runs this past season and hit .357 along with 12 doubles, three triples and 32 runs batted in. Bonczkowski hit two home runs and drove in a season-high four runs against Rockhurst on April 13.
Buescher graduated cum laude with his degree in business administration and is finishing his master's degree in business administration. He hit .325 this season with seven home runs and drove in 43 runs along with 12 doubles. Buescher became UMSL's all-time home runs leader against Upper Iowa on April 18.
Haygood, earned his degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance, had a 3.55 GPA. He went 4-1 this past season with an earned run average of 5.35 and led the team in innings pitched with 79. Haygood was second on the team in wins, tossed two complete games and had one shutout in 13 starts. He holed opponents to a .270 batting average.
Rose, a sport management major, had a cumulative GPA of 3.95. He finished the season hitting .318 with five home runs and tied for the team lead with 46 RBIs and led the team with 21 doubles. Rose had an OPS of .960 and ranked top 25 nationally in doubles.
Stoakes, an exercise science major, had a cumulative GPA of 3.65. He led the team with a .370 batting average, had 35 stolen bases in 37 attempts and led the team in runs scored with 62 and hits with 74. Stoakes hit six doubles, five triples, six home runs and drove in 29 runs this past season.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have appeared in at least 90 percent of a team's games or started at least 66 percent of the team's games. For pitchers, they must have made 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched. They must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
The 2025 Academic All-America team for baseball will be announced on Tuesday, July 1.
