Women’s Hoops Host Saints On Saturday

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team wraps up its three-game home stand on Saturday hosting crosstown rival Maryville at 1 p.m. on Chuck Smith Court at the Mark Twain Building.

Saturday's game will be A White Out with everyone encouraged to wear white for the game. There will be rally towels given away, along with giveaways, bingo cards and a caption contest.

Saturday's contest will be a matchup of two of the top teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference this season. The Tritons enter Saturday's game unbeaten at 10-0 in league play while Maryville enters Thursday night's contest at Lincoln with a record of 8-2 in the GLVC.

UMSL won the first meeting between the two teams 61-53 back on December 9 at Moloney Arena. Jayden Kuper led all scorers in that contest with 15 points while Mara Rieder and Morgan Ramthun added 14 points apiece. The Tritons have won three of the past four meetings in the series.

The Tritons enter Saturday's game giving up the fewest points per game in the GLVC at 52.9 per outing while the Saints are third in that category with 571.1 per contest.

Rieder continues to lead the conference in scoring at 20.7 points per game while Kuper is fifth at 14.6 points per outing and Ramthun is 14th with 12.7 per contest. Ramthun is second in the league in rebounding with 9.4 per game with Rieder right behind her at 9.3 per outing and Kuper is seventh 6.6.

Ramthun and Rieder are fourth and fifth in field goal percentage at 55.1 and 51.9 respectively. Anna Costa Riera continues to lead the GLVC in assists (73) assists per game at 4.6 and in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.8. Rieder is the league leader with 2.3 blocks per game and Kuper is third in steals with 2.7 per contest.

About Maryville – The Saints extended their winning streak to four with home wins over Drury and Missouri last weekend. Maryville improved to 14-4 overall and is led by Lindsey Schadewalt with 13.8 points per outing which is tied for ninth in the conference.

Schadewalt is one of the top three-point marksmen in the conference at 44.8 percent with 39 threes in 87 attempts. She is averaging 2.2 threes per game which is sixth best in the league.  Gracie Gopalan is shooting 90 percent at the foul line edging out Rieder for the top spot by .03 percent.

Up Next – The Tritons head out on the road next weekend traveling to McKendree and Illinois Springfield.
