Baseball Picked To Finish Eighth In GLVC Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team has been picked to finish eighth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference for the upcoming 2026 season in the annual GLVC Baseball Preseason Poll as voted on by the league's 15 head coaches.

Indianapolis was tabbed as the favorite to win the league garnering 181 points and five first-place votes, followed by Illinois Springfield, last season's runners-up, in second with 170 points and four first-place votes. Maryville was picked to finish third receiving 169 points and two first-place votes while Drury was tabbed to finish fourth with 160 points and two first-place votes.

Lewis, last season's regular season champion, got 139 points and first-place vote in fifth and is followed by Quincy with 128 points, Missouri S&T, the defending GLVC champion, is seventh with 125 points edging out the Tritons by one point. UMSL received the final first-place vote.

Rounding out the poll are Upper Iowa, McKendree, Rockhurst, William Jewell, Southwest Baptist, Truman State and Lincoln.

The Tritons went 29-24, 16-15 GLVC in 2025 and advanced to the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament. Among its returners are honorable mention All-GLVC selection Bryce Nicolay along with seniors Cade Grevengoed, Justin Simard and Cooper Blythe.

UMSL opens its 2026 season next weekend traveling to Oklahoma for the Edmond First Pitch Classic hosted by Central Oklahoma. The Tritons open the season against Pittsburg State on Thursday (March 5) at 10 a.m.

The conference will host the 2026 GLVC Championship Tournament May 6-10at Mtn. Dew Park in Marion, Ill.
