Fayetteville, Ark. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday (Oct. 3) at Agri Park in Fayetteville, Ark. The men finished 14th out of 21 teams with 347 points in the Prairie Star Pepper 8-kilometer race while the women had four runners compete in the 5-kilometer race.
Leading the way for the Triton men was
Julio Cruz Jr., who finished 11th overall in a field of nearly 180 runners. He had a time of 26:36.20 which was a season best and had a pace of 5:21 per kilometer.
Armando Montoya and
Kebeb Zimmerman were the next two runners to cross the finish line for UMSL. Montoya finished in a time of 27:54.1 while Zimmerman came in at 28:54.
Aaron Guss posted a time of 30:40.1,
Quintin Roach had a time of 32:44.9 and
Parker Whaley came in at 33:23.2.
For the UMSL women,
Elektra Alcantar was its top finisher with a time of 21:34.8. She was followed by
Kali Walker in a time of 22:03.5 while
Charlotte Frederick crossed the finish line at 22:48.1 and
Zoey Losch posted a time of 29:17.9.
The Tritons are back in action on Friday (Oct. 16) traveling to Peoria, Ill., for the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course starting at 11 a.m.
