SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's and men's cross country teams opened its 2026 season at the UIS Prairie Star Invitational at the UIS Cross Country Course in Springfield, Ill., on Friday evening. The women finished sixth with 141 points while the men took seventh with 176 points.
Julio Cruz Jr., led the way for the Tritons finishing 10th as he covered the five-kilometer course with a time of 16:13.98. He was followed by
Kebeb Zimmerman who finished at 17:18.98.
Armando Montoya crossed the line at 18:33.07,
Aaron Guss came in at 19:24.19 while
Quintin Roach and
Parker Whaley had times of 19:59.45 and 21:50.12 respectively.
For the women,
Hannah Richardson was their top runner covering the 5K course in a time of 23:34.41.
Elektra Alcantar had a time of 23:36.53,
Kali Walker crossed the line at 24:14.45,
Charlotte Fredrick posted a time of 24:56.88 and
Zoey Losch had a time of 30:52.45.
UMSL returns to the course on Friday (Sept. 25) as it competes at the Gans Creek Classic at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. The women's race begins at 9:45 a.m. followed by the men's race at 10:30 a.m.
