No. 20 Tritons Face Drury In Regular Season Finale

ST. LOUIS – The No. 20 University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team travels to Springfield, Mo., on Thursday to take on Drury in its regular season finale at 5:45 p.m. at the O'Reilly Family Events Center.

The Tritons (22-3, 18-1 GLVC) clinched the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the GLVC Tournament with an 82-37 win over William Jewell last Saturday. Three players had double-doubles in the contest led by Mara Rieder with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Morgan Ramthun added 22 points and 10 boards.

UMSL moved up four spots to No. 20 in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 poll.

The GLVC Tournament will be held March 5-8 at the Mark Twain Building on the UMSL campus. Full pairings for the men's and women's tournaments will be released on Saturday evening after all the games have been completed.

Thursday's contest is a showdown between the two hottest teams in the GLVC as the Tritons bring a six-game winning streak while Drury (19-6, 16-2 GLVC) has won 10 in a row.

Rieder continues to lead the conference in scoring with 19.9 points per contest and blocked shots with 2.1 per game and is second in rebounding with 10.0 per outing. She trails Drury's Sara Mendel for the rebounding title by 0.4. Rieder has recorded 14 double-doubles this season which is second behind Mendel's 19.

Joining Rieder amongst the league leaders are Ramthun and Jayden Kuper who are fourth and fifth in rebounding at 9.1 and 7.9 rebounds per game respectively. Kuper is third in steals with 2.2 per outing and Anna Costa Riera leads the GLVC in total assists (111), assists per game (4.4) and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.9.

About Drury – The Panthers are coming off a 93-81 win over Southwest Baptist last Thursday and are battling with Maryville for the number two seed in the GLVC Tournament. Mendel and Kaylee King led the way with 20 points apiece in the win over the Bearcats.

Mendel is the team's leading scorer at 15.6 points per contest while Rhi Gibbons is adding 14.0 points per game and King is dropping home 10.5 points per contest. King has dished out a team-high 64 assists while Gibbons has a team best 32 steals.

Series History – Drury leads the all-time series against UMSL 30-2 including 15-0 in a games played at Drury. The Panthers have won six straight in the series and 20 of the last 21 dating back to the 2012-13 season.
