ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team is ranked seventh in the Midwest Region in the second NCAA regional rankings that were released Wednesday afternoon.
The top eight teams in the final rankings will earn a bid to the NCAA Division II tournament. The Midwest region is comprised of teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC.)
The Tritons are 22-3 overall and 18-1 in the GLVC, having just clinched their first ever regular season conference title in program history.
The regional rankings help determine the postseason field in the NCAA Division II Tournament and will be updated one last time next Wednesday before the NCAA unveils its field of 64 on Sunday, March 8.
The Midwest Region will hand out three automatic bids to conference tournament winners from the GLVC, GLIAC and GMAC. Five teams will earn at-large bids to the tournament.
The No.20 Tritons wrap up the regular season on Thursday (Feb. 26) against Drury at the O'Reilly Family Events Center in Springfield, Mo., at 5:45 p.m.
