DESTIN, Fla. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team shot a total team score of 304 and is tied for ninth after the first round of the Emerald Coast Classic on Sunday at the Sandestin Resort and Club in Destin, Fla.
Hillary Currier led the way for the Tritons shooting an even par score of 71 and had three birdies in her round and is tied for seventh.
Wilma Zanderau had a score of 74 and is tied for 26th while
Mayan Covarrubias carded a round of 77 and is tied for 41st.
Alaina Ervin, competing as an individual, also shot a 77 to tie Covarrubias.
Josefin Hansson and
Emmy Wahl had opening round scores of 82 and 85 respectively.
There is a three-way tie atop the player leaderboard with West Florida's Millie Thompson, Flagler's Henriette Stranda and Washburn's Raegan Petersen tied with a score of 69. That group holds a one-shot lead over the trio of Illinois Springfield's Elaine Grant, Mississippi College's Sydney Moss and Texas-Tyler's Arnie Taguines who carded scores of 70. UT Tyler is the team leader after 18 holes with a total team score of 287.
Monday's second round is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m.
