ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team had four players garner All-Region accolades that were announced on Monday.
Mitch Bonczkowski,
Eli Cartwright and
Dustin Hagens were named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Midwest Region First Team and Bonczkowski was named the NCBWA Midwest Region Player of the Year.. Bonczkowski and Cartwright were named to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-Midwest Region First Team.
Garrett Brunstetter was named to the NCBWA All-Midwest Region Second Team.
Bonczkowski finished the season leading the Tritons in hits (92), home runs (23), runs batted in (75), batting average (.438) and runs scored (59). He tied for the team lead with 18 doubles and had a slugging percentage of .852, an on-base percentage of .504 and an on-base plus slugging percentage of 1.356. He set the UMSL single season record for home runs, RBIs and total bases (179) and his slugging percentage is second best in a single season in school history.
Bonczkowski leads the GLVC in batting average, home runs, hits and slugging percentage and is third in runs batted in. In Division II, he is fourth in home runs, fifth in total bases, seventh in slugging percentage, 11th in batting average, 12th in hits and 18th in runs batted in.
Cartwright finished his season with a record of 8-3 and an ERA of 3.00. He made 15 starts on the mound this season and in 72 innings pitched he struck out 101 batters and held opposing hitters to a .206 batting average against. Cartwright threw one complete game, one shutout and tossed the eighth no-hitter in program history against Southwest Baptist on March 28.
He leads the GLVC in strikeouts, earned run average, in hits allowed per nine innings pitched (6.38) and tied for first in games started, is second in strikeouts per nine innings pitched (12.63) and second in victories. In Division II, he is seventh in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings pitched, 11th in games started and hits allowed per nine innings pitched.
Hagens finishes his season with a record of 4-1 with a 3.89 earned run average and six saves in his team leading 20 appearances. Across 39.1 innings pitched he struck out 57 batters and held opposing hitters to a .218 batting average. Hagens is third in the conference in saves and 34th in Division II in that category.
Brunstetter finished the season with a record of 6-1 and an ERA of 4.66 while recording one save in 14 appearances including eight starts. Across 46.1 innings pitched he struck out 43 batters for an average of 8.39 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Brunstetter threw a season-high seven innings in an 11-1 win over Missouri S&T in the semifinal round of the GLVC Tournament. He gave up one run on three hits with four strikeouts in that contest.
The Tritons finished their 2026 season with a record of 34-22 including 24-8 in the GLVC. They were second in the GLVC regular season, won their first GLVC title since 2003, advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003 and won their first NCAA Tournament game since 1996.
