ST. LOUIS – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team had five student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators 2026 Academic All-District team which was released on Tuesday.
Representing the Tritons are
Mitch Bonczkowski,
Garrett Brunstetter,
Eli Cartwright,
Cade Grevengoed and
LJ Randle.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and Academic All-America honors, a student-athlete must have appeared in at least 90 percent of a team's games or started at least 66 percent of the team's games. For pitchers, they must have made 17 appearances or 35 innings pitched. They must have at least a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher and must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Bonczkowski, an educational studies major with an emphasis in exercise science, had a 3.92 GPA. He had one of the greatest single seasons in program history setting the single season record in home runs (23), runs batted in (75) and total bases (179). Bonczkowski also holds the career home run record at UMSL with 32.
Brunstetter graduated with his bachelor's degree in economics with a 3.90 GPA and is working on his master's in business administration with a 4.00 GPA. He went 6-1 with a save and an earned run average of 4.66. In 46.1 innings pitched he struck out 43 batters which was good for 8.4 strikeouts per nine innings pitched. Brunstetter's six wins were second most on the team.
Cartwright, a sport management major, had a 3.93 cumulative GPA. He led the Tritons and was tied for second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with eight wins this past season. He went 8-3 with an earned run average of 3.00. Cartwright led the conference with 101 strikeouts and ranked in the top 10 in Division II in strikeouts and strikeouts per nine innings pitched.
Grevengoed, a business major, finished his collegiate career with a 3.98 GPA. He appeared in 49 games with 45 starts in 2026 with 15 of his 36 hits going for extra bases. Grevengoed recorded nine doubles, three triples and hit three home runs while driving in 20 runs and stole 13 bases.
Randle, a business administration major, has a 3.73 cumulative GPA. He played in 49 games with 45 starts hitting .307 with 50 hits and led the team with 29 stolen bases while drawing 21 walks for an on-base percentage of .405. Randle added four doubles and 19 runs batted in.
The 2025 Academic All-America team for baseball will be announced on Tuesday, June 23.
