Hazaria Washington scored a career-best 20 points and hauled down 11 rebounds to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 76-46 win over Harris-Stowe in the Hilton Holiday Classic, hosted by the Tritons, on Friday afternoon.
Washington finished 8-of-11 from the field and collected seven boards on the offensive end, while fellow senior
Devonna Smith also tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Senior
Jessica Zavoral also recorded 15 points.
UMSL improves to 3-1 with the win, while Harris-Stowe falls to 2-5 with its fifth straight loss. The Tritons will close out tournament play tomorrow, hosting Missouri Baptist at 3 p.m. The Spartans fell to Lincoln, 70-49, in the first game today.
UMSL led from start to finish and owned a 35-14 lead at halftime. The Tritons shot 40.8 percent from the field and owned a commanding 55-28 rebounding advantage, including a 20-4 edge on the offensive end. UMSL outscored the Hornets, 19-2, in second chance points and took advantage of 18 Harris-Stowe turnovers, scoring 17 points off the miscues. The Hornets were limited to 26 percent shooting, including 18.5 percent in the first half.

Alyssa Like each recorded four assists, while Washington added three and led the team with three steals and two blocks. The Tritons tallied 19 assists on 29 field goals and collected nine steals.
