ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior
Tylor Wimbish scored 17 of his team-high 25 points in the second half to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to an 89-83 win over Culver-Stockton on Wednesday night in the Tritons' final non-conference contest of the season.
Wimbish was 12-of-15 from the field and netted his final five field goal attempts to help the Tritons shoot 70 percent in the second half en route to the victory. UMSL improves to 7-2 with the win. The Tritons return to action on January 3 as Great Lakes Valley Conference play resumes with UMSL traveling to McKendree.
Culver-Stockton, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, slips to 9-2.
Wimbish scored 11 points during a 5:18 stretch and pulled UMSL within 80-79 with just 1:59 to play. Senior
Michael Weber then took over, scoring all seven of his points in the final 1:32. He began with a three-pointer to give the Tritons an 82-80 lead they would not relinquish before going 4-of-4 at the free throw line in the final 32 seconds to help seal the victory.

Darian Cartharn added 13 points, while junior
Aareon Smith (12 points) and senior
Femi John (10 points) also finished in double figures.
The Tritons finished the contest shooting 52.2 percent and owned a 36-33 rebounding advantage. Smith and Wimbish each pulled down six rebounds. Culver-Stockton, led by James Johnson's game-high 28 points, shot 44.8 percent from the floor.
The Wildcats held a 35-33 halftime lead in a game that saw 12 score ties and 11 lead changes. UMSL's largest lead in the game was six points, which came with nine seconds to play, while Culver-Stockton's largest lead was five points.
Junior
Neil Branham dished out five assists, while Cartharn tallied two steals. UMSL capitalized on 15 Culver-Stockton turnovers, outscoring the Wildcats, 23-10, in points off turnovers.
