TUCSON, ARIZ. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team suffered a pair of losses on the second day of competition at the NFCA Division II Leadoff Classic. The Tritons dropped a 2-0 decision to Southeast Oklahoma State and a 5-4 verdict to No. 8 ranked Augustana (S.D).
Sophomore
Brianna Butler recorded the only hit for the Tritons in the opener, while Southeast Oklahoma (12-3) recorded three hits and scored single runs in the first and third innings.
Augustana (3-1) took a 4-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning, while UMSL got two back in the bottom half of the frame. The Vikings tacked on a run in the sixth, while the Tritons platted two more in the bottom of the sixth.
Butler finished 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, while sophomore
Madison Zbaraschuk was 2-for-4. Senior
Haleigh Jenkins and freshman
Mckenzie Halstead each recorded a double
UMSL recorded nine hits, while Augustana tallied eight.
The Tritons (1-3) close out tournament play tomorrow. Game times and opponents have yet to be announced.
