ST. LOUIS, MO. – Jeff Jarosz's jumper in the lane with 5.8 seconds to play proved to be the game-winner as No. 17 Lewis defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team, 82-80, on Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Jarosz scored all 16 of his second half points in the final 6:07. He also accounted for eight of the final nine points scored by the Flyers. Lewis improves to 11-1 overall with the win, including 3-1 in the GLVC, while the Tritons slip to 9-4 and 3-2 in the league.

Femi John recorded 22 points, 11 rebounds and four assists to lead the Tritons in a game that saw 32 lead changes and 18 ties.
John scored UMSL's final seven points, including a layup with 13.5 seconds to play that gave the Tritons an 80-79 lead. UMSL got the ball back after Jarosz's game-winner, but turned the ball over on its end of the court.

Darian Cartharn added 16 points for UMSL, which shot 49.2 percent from the floor and held a 34-30 rebounding advantage, including a 12-9 edge on the offensive end. The Tritons outscored the Flyers, 17-10, in second chance points.
Lewis, which clung to a 38-37 halftime lead, shot 52.5 percent, including 57.1 percent in the final 20 minutes. The Flyers were 16-of-21 (76.2 percent) at the free throw line, while UMSL shot a season-low 52.6 percent (10-of-19).
The Tritons only turned the ball over eight times, while Lewis committed four miscues and outscored UMSL, 11-2, on points off turnovers.
The Tritons return to action on Thursday when they travel to Truman State in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
