Anthony Cope, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team posted a runner-up finish at the Midwest Regional at Glen Echo, hosted by the Tritons on Monday and Tuesday.
UMSL entered the final 18 holes tied for first with Lewis, but finished three strokes behind the Flyers on the final round. The Tritons posted a team score of 584 (287-297), while Lewis shot a 581 to lead the 18-team field.
Barry and Cope each carded a 145 with Barry shooting a career-best, including a career low-round of 69 in his opening 18. He finished with a 76 in the final round, while Cope turned in rounds of 73 and 72.
Junior
Colby Yates tied for ninth place with a 147 (76-71), while freshmen
Kaylor Steger (71-78 – 149; T14th) and
Markus Lindberg (74-82 – 156; T43rd) rounded out the scoring.
Lewis' Robert Dofflemeyer earned medalist honors with his even par score of 142 (71-71). The Flyers had three golfers place in the top four.
The Tritons return to action October 20-21 at the TVA Credit Union Classic, hosted by North Alabama.
