ST. LOUIS – The No. 22 University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team had a total team score of 859 (293-276-290) but lost to host Findlay in a two-hole playoff to finish second in the Doc Spragg Invitational at the Findlay Country Club in Findlay, Ohio on Tuesday afternoon.
The Tritons and Oilers were all tied at 859 and headed to the ninth hole for a playoff. All five players scores from each team counted in the playoff. The two sides tied the first go around and had to play the ninth hole again. Findlay won it on the second hole with four pars and a bogey while UMSL had four pars and a double bogey.
Logan Mayo and
Trigg Lindahl finished in a tie for fifth with respective scores of 214 and were named to the All-Tournament team. Mayo turned in scores of 69-71-74 while Lindahl had rounds of 75-66-73.
Leo Baudry finished in a tie for 12th at 216 (75-68-73) to finish at even par.
Dani Solavera shot 219 (75-74-70) to finish in a tie for 24th while
Benjamin Berger, competing as an individual, finished with rounds of 74-69-78 to finish with a total score of 221 and
Ludvig Granlund shot 223 (74-71-78).
Cedarville's Aiden Hibbard was the individual medalist defeating Hillsdale's Robert Thompson in a one-hole playoff on No. 18. Hibbard sank a birdie putt while Thompson three-putted for a bogey.
The Tritons return to the course next Monday and Tuesday competing in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate hosted by Hawai'I-Hilo at the Waikoloa Golf Resort in Waikoloa Village, Hawaii.
