ResultsSAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO – Led by a tie for second place finish from sophomore
Matt Barry, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team posted a third place finish in its final fall tournament, the UIS Island Getaway, hosted by Illinois Springfield on Monday and Tuesday.
Barry shot rounds of 73 and 69 to card a 36-hole career-low 142, helping the Tritons to a team score of 596 (305-291). UMSL's round of 291 was Tuesday's low round.
North Alabama won the eight-team title, shooting a 581 (289-292), while Central Missouri's Sam Migdal took home medalist honors with a 141 (72-69).
Junior
Anthony Cope and freshman
Markus Lindberg also finished in the top 10, tying for seventh and ninth place, respectively. Cope carded a 149 (77-72), while Lindberg turned in a 150 (79-71). Rounding out the scoring were junior
Colby Yates (76-82 – 158; T20th) and freshman
Kaylor Steger (81-79 – 160; T26th).
Three golfers also played as individuals including sophomore
Julien de Poyen (77-82 – 159; T23rd), freshman
Gordon Hundley (79-81 – 160; T26th) and freshman
Stephan Sorg (85-77 – 162; T30th).
UMSL will open its spring season February 16-17 at the Newberry College Invitational in Kiawah Island, SC.
