Perryman Records Two Wins as Softball Sweeps Bellarmine on the Road

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LOUISVILLE, KY. – Sophomore Hannah Perryman recorded two victories in the circle for the No. 5 University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team, helping the Tritons to wins of 3-1 and 2-0 at Bellarmine on Friday in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

Perryman tossed the first game in relief before striking out 19 in the complete game shutout nightcap, which went to eight innings.

UMSL improves to 34-5 overall, including 18-3 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine slips to 30-12 and 23-7 in the league. The Tritons, which began a 10-game roadtrip to close out the regular season today, are back in action tomorrow at Southern Indiana.

GAME 1: UMSL 3, Bellarmine 1
Junior Brianna Butler drove in all three runs for the Tritons. Her third inning double put UMSL on the board for a 1-0 lead, while her two-run homerun in the sixth inning proved to be the game-winner as Bellarmine had tied it in the fifth inning.

Butler recorded her third homerun this week and the 27th of her career, one shy of the career mark of 28, set by JaCee Elis from 2008-11.

Perryman pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing just one hit, while striking out eight.

Junior Brittni Chapman went four innings in the start, allowing the one run, while scattering five hits and tallying five strikeouts.

UMSL finished with five hits, with sophomore Katie Schultz and juniors Madison Zbaraschuck and Katie Wood each adding a single.

GAME 2: UMSL 2, Bellarmine 0 (8 innings)
The Tritons broke the scoreless game with two runs in the top of the eighth inning. Butler drew a lead-off walk and was replaced on the bases by sophomore Brandi Kiel, who stole second. Junior Jena Boudreau followed with another walk before freshman Alex Stupek drove in Kiel with a double – just the third hit of the game for UMSL. A sacrifice bunt by Wood then sent Boudreau home for the insurance run.

Perryman struck out 19 of the 25 batters she faced, with two garnering a hit and the other four reaching by way of walk. She is now 19-4 this season.
