INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore
Hannah Perryman has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Southern Indiana's MacKezni Dorsam was named the Player of the Week.
Perryman went 2-0 in the circle last weekend, helping UMSL to victories at Drury (2-0) and Missouri S&T (12-0). In 14 innings of work, Perryman allowed just two hits and struck out 31 batters to finish with a 0.00 ERA. With the wins, she improved to 14-3 on the season.
Against Drury, she struck out the first 16 batters faced, en route to a career-best 20 strike outs that tied the NCAA seven-inning single game record (Florida Southern's Dori Stankewitz against Tampa on March 14, 1987). With the 20 strikeouts, Perryman also became the Tritons' all-time career leader in that category and now has 540. She ended the week by striking out 11 against Missouri S&T, where she retired the first nine batters. The Streamwood, Ill., native leads Missouri-St. Louis in strikeouts (188) and innings pitched (100.1) appearances (20), while in league play she ranks second in strikeouts.
This is the third honor of the season and eighth weekly career award for Perryman, as she was recognized by the league on February 17 and March 24.
UMSL (26-3, 13-1 GLVC) will host a trio of GLVC doubleheaders this week, beginning with Maryville on Wednesday.
