ResultsINDIANAPOLIS, IND. – The No. 23 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team recorded a second place finish at the Brickyard Crossing, hosted by the University of Indianapolis, on Monday and Tuesday.
The Tritons, which entered today's final 18 holes in a tie for fourth place, shaved four strokes off of yesterday's score to post a 584 (294-290). No. 22 Central Oklahoma took home the team title, shooting a 578 (290-288). Seven of the top-25 teams in the latest Golf World/Nike Golf Division II poll competed in the 13-team field, including four of the top 10, all of which UMSL beat.
No. 8 West Florida finished third (290-298 – 588), while top-ranked and two-time defending NCAA Division II national champion Barry tied for fourth place alongside Grand Valley State, each carding a 590.

Anthony Cope was UMSL's top finisher, finishing in a six-way tie for runner-up honors. Cope shot a 36-hole career best 143 (71-72), three strokes behind medalist Jack Rider of Grand Valley State, who carded a four-under-par 140 (72-68).

Colby Yates tied for ninth place, giving the Tritons two top-10 placers, shooting a 145 (75-70), while freshman
Markus Lindberg tied for 17
th place with a 148 (73-75). Sophomore
Matt Barry tied for 34
th place (79-73 – 152), while freshman
Kaylor Steger tied for 58
th place (75-83 – 158). Freshman
Stephan Sorg competed as an individual, shooting a 160 (80-80) to tie for 63
rd place.
UMSL will travel to Chicago, Ill., September 29-30 to compete in the first of three regional events during the 2014-15 season. Lewis will host the event at Harborside International.
