EDWARDSVILLE, ILL., September 2, 2014 – The No. 23 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team opened the 2014-15 season by winning the Arch Cup, hosted by the Tritons on Tuesday, at Sunset Hills Country Club.
The Tritons defeated Maryville, 4-1, in one of two semifinals before topping Illinois Springfield, 4.5-0.5, in the championship match. The Prairie Stars defeated McKendree, 3.5-1.5, in the other semifinal.

Colby Yates won the individual title with his four-under par 140 (71-69). It was the second career medalist honor for Yates, who was co-champion at the Arch Cup as a freshman.
UMSL will return to the links September 15-16 at the Brickyard Crossing in Indianapolis, Ind.
