INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – Senior first baseman
Brianna Butler of the No. 13 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week for her performance in helping the Tritons to a 5-1 record at the NFCA Division II Lead Off Classic last weekend. Southern Indiana's Brooke Harmening was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Butler batted .500 and posted a slugging percentage of 1.100, while recording 10 hits, including six for extra base. The program's all-time career home run leader added to her total with three long balls, giving her 36 in her career, and also tallied three doubles. Butler hit safely in each of UMSL's six games and also recorded four RBIs and scored five runs. She tallied three multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 performance in a 6-3 win over Fort Lewis.
UMSL returns to action this Friday-Sunday at the Arkansas-Monticello 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark.
