ResultsKIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Newberry Invitational at The Ocean Course as the Tritons competed in their first tournament of the spring season on Monday and Tuesday.
UMSL carded rounds of 310, 321 and 307 to post a team score of 938. Limestone College won the 18-team field event with a 913 (306-311-296).
Freshman
Markus Lindberg led the Tritons with a 233 (76-78-79), tying for 21
st place, while junior
Colby Yates was one stroke behind with a 234 (76-82-76), tying for 25
th place. Sophomore
Julien de Poyen turned in a 235 (80-81-74) to tie for 32
nd place, while junior
Anthony Cope posted a 241 (83-80-78), tying for 47
th place. Sophomore
Matt Barry rounded out the scoring with a 243 (78-86-79), tying for 54
th place.
Mount Olive's Sebastian Anderson took home medalist honors with his two-over par 218 (72-70-76).
UMSL returns to the links March 1-2 when it hosts the Las Vegas Desert Classic.
