ST. LOUIS, MO.– The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team rebounded from a 4-3 game one loss to Maryville on Tuesday by posting a 9-2 victory over the Saints in the nightcap in a midweek Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader.
UMSL moves to 19-10 overall, including 14-10 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Maryville is now 14-23 and 7-17 in league play.
The Tritons recorded 15 hits in the two contests, including a 4-of-8 performance from junior
Dominic Orlando.
UMSL returns to action this Saturday and Sunday in a four-game GLVC series at Rockhurst.
GAME 1: Maryville 4, UMSL 3Maryville scored four unanswered runs and thwarted off an UMSL rally in the seventh to garner the win and erase an early 2-0 Tritons lead.

The Saints then scored one run in the second, two in the fourth and one in the sixth for the 4-2 lead.
Senior
Shane Brinker filled up the bases with two outs in the seventh after reaching on a hit-by-pitch before Seddon got on via a fielding error by Saints shortstop Dalton Schumer, which also allowed junior
Dominic Orlando to score. However, Schumer redeemed himself with a leaping grab to take away
JJ Kinnevan's potential game-winning hit with the bases loaded and end the game.
Redshirt sophomore
Kevin Smith suffered the loss on the mound, going five and two-thirds of an inning. He allowed four runs, including three earned, on four hits, while striking out seven and walking three.
UMSL out-hit the Saints, 6-4, and was led by Orlando's two hits.
GAME 2: UMSL 9, Maryville 2The Tritons scored in all but two innings and recorded nine hits, including two each from Kinnevan, Busekrus and Orlando. Kinnevan and Busekrus also had two RBIs each, while Beckwith scored two runs.
UMSL got off to a quick start with a Busekrus RBI single in the first inning, followed by a two-run Kinnevan triple in the second that made it a 3-1 game. The Tritons then scored their next two runs on a bases loaded walks, including one in the third and one in the fourth. They were issued seven walks in the game.
Another three runs scored in the sixth. Beckwith led off with a triple and came home on Busekrus' second RBI single of the game. Busekrus then crossed the plate on a Saints throwing error for the 7-1 lead before an RBI fielder's choice by Brinker.
Senior
Luke Hayes tossed the complete game victory, surrendering just two runs, including one earned, on eight hits, while striking out three and walking one.
