CONOVER, N.C. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's golf team moved into a tie for 10
th place on day two of the 2015 NCAA DII Championships in the 20-team field.
The Tritons, tied with Indiana University of PA, shot 294 for the second consecutive day, bringing their team score to 588. UMSL sits eight strokes behind eighth place Chico State and seven behind ninth place Central Oklahoma. After the conclusion of tomorrow's third round, the top eight teams will be placed into a bracket and seeded based on their 54-hole scores. Winning teams will advance to the semifinals and subsequently the finals to determine the 2015 national champion.
South Carolina-Aiken fired a one-under par 283 to move into first place with a 567 (284-283) and hold a one stroke lead over St. Leo, which vaulted into second place following a six-under 278 on its second 18 holes.
UMSL and Indiana-PA sit one stroke ahead of CSU-Monterey Bay and two strokes ahead of Florida Southern, which are in 12
th and 13
th place, respectively.
Sophomore
Matt Barry leads the Tritons with a 143 (70-73) and is tied for 18
th place, while junior
Colby Yates fired today's top UMSL score with a 70 and sits at 145 after his round of 75 yesterday. Junior
Anthony Cope owns a 148 (73-75), while other UMSL scores include sophomore
Julien de Poyen (76-76 - 152) and freshman
Markus Lindberg (79-76 - 155).
Central Missouri's Sam Migdal (66-71) and St. Leo's Ryan Gendron (70-67) pace all individuals with a 137.
UMSL will tee off its third round tomorrow, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
