The Tritons, seeded No. 12, will face the No. 5 seed Truman State with the winner advancing to the tournament quarterfinals on Thursday, March 3 in St. Charles, Mo. UMSL claimed the final spot in the tournament filed by knocking off Maryville, 62-60, Thursday night in the regular season finale. This will be the third meeting between the Tritons and Bulldogs this season, with the previous two going to double overtime and overtime.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTSTruman State is 19-9 overall and finished GLVC play with a 13-5 record. The Bulldogs are coming off a 65-53 loss at No.23 Quincy Thursday night in their regular season finale. Truman State is 10-3 at home and is led by Courtney Strait's 10.4 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The Bulldogs lead the GLVC in scoring defense, surrending just 55.2 points per game.
SERIES HISTORIESUMSL is 16-19 all-time against Truman State. The two teams split during the regular season, each winning at home. The Tritons posted a 61-60 double overtime in on January 2 at home in non-conference play, while the Bulldogs earned a 78-73 home win in league play on January 21.

Truman State 78, UMSL 73 (OT) | January 21, 2016 | Kirksville, Mo.UMSL rallied from a 10-point first half deficit and helped force overtime by ending regulation with a 12-3 run. The Bulldogs went to the free throw line with 1.9 seconds on the clock, but missed both attempts. However, Truman State scored the first four and final four points of the extra period to get the win.
